Tea Caddy in Pewter with Chinoiserie Engraved Decoration

On offer is a pewter tea caddy with a marvelous spherical footed form. The object is very simple throughout, with the exception of some mysterious engravings on one face of the urn, as shown in the 4th image.  Art Deco vibe, though almost definitely far earlier.

It measures 7.5 inches tall. Condition overall is good vintage, though there are some dents, the most noticeable being to the foot -- none of these deter from the appearance of the piece.
